The people of Arakan are calling on the international community to take effective and timely action against the Myanmar junta, which is committing war crimes against the people of Arakan.

The people of Arakan say that the Myanmar junta is deliberately carrying out shootings, assaults, arrests, executions, and arbitrary detentions and prosecutions against the people of Arakan.

As a result, due to the increasing deaths, injuries, arrests, and executions of the people of Arakan, the people of Arakan and their families are urging the international community to take action against the Myanmar junta.

Regarding Ko Kyaw Win Hlaing, the news we received is that he is no longer alive and cannot be found. We heard that the junta killed him. His entire family has held a memorial service for him. We want the international community to take effective action against the unjust killings of innocent civilians. These are the words of Daw Hla Hla Myint, the wife of Ko Kyaw Win Hlaing, who was arrested and executed by the Myanmar junta in Kyauk Yit Kay Ward, Mrauk U.

The Arakan Army announced on February 29 that seven civilians from Mrauk U Township, who were unjustly arrested by the Myanmar junta, were executed by the junta’s Battalion 378.

Among those unjustly arrested from Mrauk U, including Ko Pho La Pyae and journalist Ko Pho Thiha, seven innocent civilians were taken from the Battalion 378’s Central Detention Room in Mrauk U and executed as part of a war crime, as confessed by Deputy Police Commander Khin Maung Soe, who was directly involved in the incident.

The people of Arakan say that during the ongoing Arakan war, the Myanmar junta has been deliberately targeting the people of Arakan, using heavy weapons, coordinated bombings, artillery, fighter jets, and drones, committing daily attacks, arbitrary arrests and executions.

Among the seven individuals executed and disappeared by the Myanmar junta in Mrauk U, Ko Pho La Pyae, a Rakhine rap singer, was included. His family members are calling on the international community to take effective action against the Myanmar junta for its war crimes, in accordance with international law.

“I want the international community to take effective action at the ICC in accordance with international law,” said Ko Pho La Pyae’s wife, making the plea.

The Arakan Army has announced that it will seek a political solution to domestic issues through dialogue, and the Myanmar junta has also stated that it is always ready to pursue a political resolution. However, the people of Arakan say that the junta continues to target and attack civilian areas, further escalating the violence.

In cities controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), airstrikes by the Myanmar junta have resulted in the deaths of 47 civilians and injuries to up to 55 others from December 31 to January 13, as reported in the records compiled by Border News Agency.

For the Arakan Army (AA), only the towns of Kyaukphru, Manaung and the capital Sittwe remain under Myanmar junta control. Even in these areas, military tensions continue, and the junta is unjustly arresting civilians, according to the people of Arakan.

In addition, in some cities controlled by the Myanmar junta, including Yangon, targeted arrests of Rakhine people are being carried out, and they are facing threats for speaking their native language. Rakhine people also report living in constant fear for their lives, with no security or safety.

Furthermore, Rakhine civilians who have fled from the conflict are being deliberately targeted by the Myanmar junta for arrests, forced removal, detentions, and restrictions, including violations of their citizenship rights and basic human rights. Rakhine people report that they are enduring war crimes committed by the Myanmar junta.
