The conflict between the Arakan Army (AA) and the Myanmar junta remains intense in Sittwe, where many civilians are still present.
The Myanmar junta has blocked all land and water routes, allowing only air travel. As a result, many people who cannot afford flight tickets are stranded.
Additionally, some displaced people from other regions have started returning, but locals in Sittwe report that clashes between the two sides, including heavy artillery fire, continue to occur occasionally.
In Sittwe, the Myanmar junta’s Rakhine state government office is located, along with the headquarters of the Regional Military Command.
Meanwhile, the Myanmar junta is preparing to celebrate the Thingyan water festival and has also conducted university entrance examinations.
