In a joint operation conducted at Rohingya refugee Camp-11 in Ukhiya, security forces arrested four suspected members of a Rohingya armed group. Authorities also recovered a cache of foreign-made weapons and approximately Tk. 14 lakh in cash during the raid.
According to security officials, the operation was launched based on intelligence inputs about the presence of armed individuals involved in illegal activities inside the camp. The identities of the arrested suspects have not been disclosed yet for security reasons.
During the search, the law enforcement team recovered several foreign firearms, ammunition, and a large amount of cash allegedly used for financing the group’s illicit operations. Preliminary investigations suggest the group might be involved in extortion, arms smuggling, and other criminal activities within the camp and surrounding areas.
Officials stated that further interrogations are underway to uncover the group’s network and possible links with transnational criminal organizations. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
The joint forces reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the refugee camps and preventing any armed or extremist activities.
