In a historic step toward self-determination and progress, the Rohingya community in the refugee camps has elected new leadership for their Civil Society Organization. This development comes at a critical time as the community continues to face immense challenges while striving for dignity, justice, and long-term solutions.
Five representatives, respected for their dedication and commitment to their people have been chosen to lead the new chapter of Rohingya civil leadership. The newly elected chairman candidates are:
- MV Saeed Ullah (Buthidaung Township)
- Mr. Jahangir (Maungdaw Township)
- Mr. Ro Khin Maung (Maungdaw Township)
- Mr. Shoaib (Buthidaung Township)
- Mrs. Sajeda (Buthidaung Township)
Behind this initiative lies the resilience and collective hope of the Rohingya, who believe in building a united and stronger voice for their rights. The new leadership aims to represent the community’s aspirations, work toward resolving the ongoing crisis, and advocate for a peaceful and dignified future.
This election is being seen by many observers as a milestone in strengthening civil society among the Rohingya, giving them an organized platform to engage with international actors, humanitarian agencies, and governments in their pursuit of justice and durable solutions.
