Mrauk-U, August 27
Residents said that on the night of August 25, junta forces carried out an airstrike on Dainkyi Ward in Mrauk-U, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), resulting in two more deaths among the injured.
On the night of August 25, at around 11 p.m., junta forces dropped two 500-pound bombs on Dainkyi Ward, killing twelve civilians.
In addition, twenty people were injured and are receiving emergency medical treatment. Among them, a seven-year-old child and a 32-year-old woman later died.
Therefore, as civilians are being deliberately targeted in the attacks, the people are calling on the international community to provide protection.
“My elder sister’s son was killed. He was like my own son. I am not satisfied with such deliberate actions, and I am angry about it. I also hope that it will not happen again. I don’t want others to suffer the way I feel right now. I want civilians to be protected as much as possible so that things like this do not happen again. Because if our own children are lost, civilian parents will suffer deeply too,” a family member of one of the victims told Border News Agency.
Among the dead were six children and five women, while among the injured were two children and twelve women.
Residents said that junta forces deliberately carried out the airstrike on innocent civilians at night, taking advantage of the time when people were asleep, which caused a high number of deaths and injuries.
As a result, hatred and resentment are growing, fueling ethnic tensions, and the people are calling on the international community to provide protection.
“My grandson was a good boy. I am furious about what happened. He has already been laid to rest, and the head monk of Dainkyi Monastery is his uncle. He had gone there for an apprenticeship and had returned to the village briefly before going back to continue his training near the jetty. I want to confront the junta forces with my own heel,” a family member of the deceased told Border News Agency.
In the incident, one person over 60 years old was killed, and seven others were injured. Eight houses, household belongings, and two three-wheeled motorcycles for rent were also destroyed.
The junta regularly conducts reconnaissance over Arakan Army-controlled areas using drones and aircraft.
In addition, attacks are frequently carried out using drones, heavy weapons, large military vessels, and fighter jets.
