Kyauktaw, September 13.
Due to an airstrike carried out by the Myanmar junta’s military, 20 people were killed and 21 others were injured when the Panya Pan Khin and Amyin Thit private high schools in Thayet Ta Pin Village, Kyauktaw Township, were attacked.
The two private high schools were deliberately attacked by the Myanmar junta at around 1 a.m. on September 12, using two 500-pound bombs dropped from the air.
As a result of the deliberate attack, 20 people were killed and 21 others were injured, including 2 women among the dead and 9 women among the injured.
Among the victims, 21-year-old Grade 12 student Ma Hla Nhin Nwe, daughter of U Maung Me Maung from Min Thar Taung Village, Kyauktaw Township, and 18-year-old Grade 12 student Ma Khin Khin Kyaw, daughter of U Kyaw Win Chay, were killed.
Among those injured were 29-year-old Win Nwe Thein; 87-year-old Daw U San Mya, daughter of U Maung Kyarr; 19-year-old Grade 12 student Ma Myat Noe Khant, daughter of U Maung Kyaw Aye; 23-year-old Ma Su Myat Ein, daughter of U Maung Kyaw Hlaing; 26-year-old Ma Myat Myat Thein, daughter of U Maung Thar Chay; and 44-year-old Daw U Thaung Yin, the daughter of U Maung Kyaw Aye, all from Thayet Ta Pin Village, Kyauktaw Township.
In addition, 20-year-old Grade 12 student Ma Lone Lone Khine, daughter of U San Wai Maung from Min Thar Taung Village, Kyauktaw Township; 19-year-old Grade 12 student Ma Nanda Lin, daughter of U Maung Kyan Thein from Shwe Pyi Thar Ward, Sittwe Township; and 29-year-old Ma Win Win Thein, daughter of U Htun Thein Maung from Koyin Pyin Village, Myaybon Township, were also injured.
The Myanmar military has been conducting daily aerial surveillance over areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA) and frequently carrying out airstrikes as well.
The AA stated that the international community must take effective action rather than standing by idly while the fascist terrorist military commission continues to commit daily war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The AA also pledged to continue reporting evidence of the junta’s inhumane actions and war crimes to international organizations.
Regarding the crimes committed against the new generation of Arakan youth, the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government stated that it will work in collaboration with individuals and organizations that seek justice, to ensure accountability is achieved.
The Arakan Army (AA) warned that it will respond strongly to all perpetrators, those who ordered the crimes, and anyone involved in these atrocities.
