The Myanmar junta’s military carried out an airstrike on Thandwe town, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), killing one person and injuring five others, according to reports.
In Thandwe town’s No. 4 Ward, U Nyi Nyi, a man in his early 30s, was killed, while six-year-old Maung Thant Zin Phyo, 14-year-old Maung Aung Thiha Soe, 37-year-old Daw Khin Khin Htay, 53-year-old Daw Khin Htwe, and 42-year-old U Tun Naing Min were injured.
On September 27, at around 8:30 p.m., the junta’s military carried out an airstrike on No. 4 Ward, Nyaungpin Zae Ward in Thandwe town, dropping two 500-pound bombs from a fighter jet.
The bombing reportedly hit one house in No. 4 Ward, belonging to U Mya Han, and another house in Nyaungpin Zae Ward, belonging to U Hmae Lay.
“U Nyi Nyi was killed instantly at the scene. The remaining victims are his family members, who were seriously injured,” a resident of Thandwe town told Border News Agency.
The injured victims are reportedly being rushed to the hospital for emergency medical treatment.
On September 26, at around 3 p.m., the junta’s military dropped a 500-pound bomb from a fighter jet on the Taunggoke town, Kan Paing Ward’s Tat Oo Monastery, destroying an entire monastery building.
In Rakhine State, the increasingly aggressive junta forces are carrying out daily airstrikes in every township, causing casualties and deaths among local residents.
After announcing plans to hold elections in Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa townships, the junta’s military commission has been carrying out consecutive airstrikes in each town.
