Local residents reported that on September 29, around 12 p.m., junta forces carried out an airstrike on Paletwa, a town controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).
They said that as many as three bombs were dropped on parts of Paletwa by the junta’s aircraft.
Local residents said that the airstrike damaged buildings in Paletwa, including the hospital and Boe Te (Officer’s Bungalow) and caused injuries.
“A number of buildings were destroyed, and there are people injured. We don’t yet know the full details,” a Paletwa resident told Border News Agency.
Locals said that on September 28, junta forces carried out an airstrike near Pade Kaw village along the road connecting Thandwe and Gwa, while naval vessels in the sea near Thandwe also fired heavy artillery.
Additionally, on the night of September 27, an airstrike on Thandwe town by junta forces killed one civilian and injured six others.
Locals said that on September 26, junta forces carried out an airstrike on Tat Oo Monastery in Kan Paing Ward, Taunggoke town, destroying the monastery building.
As junta airstrikes continue daily on areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), civilians are being killed and injured.
The junta has announced plans to hold upcoming elections in townships including Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa, and since that announcement, airstrikes in these areas have continued.
