Ponnagyun, October 4
At around 5:10 p.m. on October 4, the Myanmar military carried out an airstrike using two fighter jets on a displacement camp in Ponnagyun Township, an area controlled by the Arakan Army (AA). Six displaced people were killed and many others were injured in the attack.
The Arakan Army (AA) said that the Myanmar military deliberately targeted the Yo Ngu (Bya La) displacement camp, which is located between Thayet Cho and Yo Ngu villages in Ponnagyun Township.
The airstrike caused many houses and shops inside the displacement camp to catch fire and be destroyed. Survivors fled the camp in fear and sought safety in other areas.
As of now, local people are still working to put out the fires. Five bodies have been found among the debris, while the search for the remaining victims is continuing.
