Sittwe, October 29.

The Arakan Army (AA) successfully attacked and destroyed three warships belonging to the military junta stationed at the mouth of the Kaladan River between Sittwe and Wira Thani in the Arakan region, according to Khaing Thukha, spokesperson for the AA.

The naval operation was carried out on the night of the Thadingyut full moon. According to the spokesperson, two of the three warships sank completely, while the third was severely damaged.

The spokesperson also said that the junta had made intense efforts to establish a beachhead on Ngapyi Kyun Island. However, the AA has now secured firm control of the island.

Fierce fighting continues in and around Sittwe. The spokesperson alleged that junta forces are using civilians trapped inside the city as human shields while defending their positions.

The junta is also reportedly destroying bomb shelters dug by civilians. The spokesperson described this action as a crime against humanity, alleging that it was part of a systematic plan to kill civilians.
