On March 25, around 7:00 PM, the Myanmar junta launched an airstrike on Au Phru Prin village in Ponnakyun Township, resulting in the deaths of four civilians and injuring up to 13 others, according to local residents.
Among the victims from the Leik Kone Prin Ward in Ponnakyun Township were 19-year-old Ko Maung Thet Naing, about 15-year-old Daw Ma Yee, 53-year-old U Than Maung, and 25-year-old Ye Lin Soe.
The victims were reportedly families who had fled military violence and sought refuge in Aung Phru Prin village in Ponnakyun Township.
Among the injured were children, the elderly, and women, many of whom sustained severe injuries and are receiving emergency medical treatment, according to local villagers.
The Myanmar junta deliberately bombed a monastery in the village, where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were sheltering. The explosion caused significant damage to the makeshift IDP camp inside the monastery, resulting in further casualties among the displaced persons, according to villagers.
On March 22, the Myanmar junta also launched an airstrike near Kyaw Zan village in Ponnakyun Township.
According to Arakanese civilians, the Myanmar junta has been deliberately targeting Arakanese people with heavy artillery, mortar shells, naval forces, fighter jets, and drones, continuing such attacks daily throughout the Arakan war.
In the ongoing Arakan war, the Arakan Army has successfully captured and fully controlled 15 townships.
Arakanese civilians have reported that the Arakan Army is continuing its military operations to capture the three remaining townships, including Kyaukphru, Sittwe and Manaung. Military tensions and clashes are still ongoing in these areas.
