The Arakan Army (AA) announced on January 20 that clashes continue to intensify in the border areas of Arakan State.
The Arakan Army (AA) stated that clashes have been occurring in the Arakan-Bago, Arakan-Magway, and Arakan-Ayeyarwady border areas since January 11.
The Arakan Army (AA) announced, along with photographs, that clashes near villages such as Ka Myin Kan (Kan Myint Kan), Pine Yae San, and Kyet Yae San in Ann Township resulted in casualties among junta troops, as well as the capture of some soldiers alive.
Additionally, the Arakan Army (AA) reported that they seized weapons, ammunition, and military supplies from the junta troops during clashes between January 13 and 19.
Clashes continue to occur near villages such as Ka Myin Kan (Kan Myint Kan), Pine Yae San, and Kyet Yae San in Ann Township. It is reported that offensive and defensive operations have been ongoing for over a week near the Ann-Padan highway.
The statement mentioned that the clashes, which began on January 11, involved units under the junta’s Division 88 and Division 99, as well as troops from the Defense Weapons and Equipment Factory in Magway.
It was reported that the junta troops repeatedly launched offensives into territories controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), but they suffered heavy losses and were forced to retreat.
On December 14, the Arakan Army (AA) successfully captured the No. 5 Military Operations Command in Taunggoke Township. However, the junta troops have been reinforcing their military presence along the Arakan-Bago border, attempting to launch further offensives.
On December 20, the Arakan Army (AA) successfully captured and secured the Western Military Command (Na Pa Kha) in Ann Township. However, they were unable to fully secure the farthest border areas of Ann Township, and as a result, the junta troops have been attempting to launch counteroffensives.
On December 29, the Arakan Army (AA) successfully captured and secured the Gwa Township along the Arakan-Ayeyarwady border. However, the junta troops have been reinforcing their military presence and attempting to launch counteroffensives, leading to continued clashes.
In the decisive battle in Arakan, the Arakan Army (AA) has successfully captured and secured areas including Plaetwa, Maungdaw, Buthidaung, Rathedaung, Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Minbrar, Myaybon, Pauktaw, Rambree, Thandwe, Taunggoke, Ann, and Gwa townships.
The remaining three townships of Sittwe, Kyaukphru, and Manaung have yet to be captured by the Arakan Army (AA), with ongoing military tensions in these areas. The people of Arakan have stated that the junta troops are deliberately targeting civilian areas with heavy artillery.
