Dhaka, January 26, 2025 – In a significant development, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh has expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Donald Trump for exempting lifesaving food and nutrition aid for displaced Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh from the US aid freeze.
US Embassy officials in Dhaka conveyed the news during a meeting with High Representative Dr. Khalilur Rahman earlier today. The exemption is a crucial step in ensuring continued humanitarian assistance for nearly a million Rohingya refugees who rely on international support for their survival.
This decision is expected to alleviate concerns over potential disruptions to vital aid, highlighting the United States’ commitment to supporting one of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
