Fierce clashes are ongoing in Kyaukphru Township between the Myanmar junta forces and the Arakan Army (AA), with the Military Council reportedly launching reinforced offensives, according to frontline military sources.

The junta forces, using troops, heavy weaponry, and armored vehicles, have been carrying out these assaults and have also reportedly burned and destroyed some villages, local residents in Kyaukphru said.

Fierce battles are reportedly ongoing in Kyaukphru Township near the No. 32 Police Battalion, Dhanyawadi Naval Headquarters, the Kone Dwin natural gas storage and transport facility (OGT), and the areas around Leik Khamaw Village.

Residents say that the junta forces have burned and destroyed both Leik Khamaw villages.

“The offensive is being carried out with significant force, and on our side there are instances of withdrawal. Where we hold an advantage, they retreat, and vice versa. At this point, overall, both sides are engaged heavily. The dogs (junta forces) are numerous,” a frontline source told Border News Agency.

The junta forces reportedly burned and destroyed almost all the houses in the old Leik Khamaw Village, and in the new village, many homes have also been damaged due to drone strikes and bombings.

The offensive on Leik Khamaw Village began yesterday, and battles are reported to still be ongoing today.

Additionally, fierce clashes are taking place near the Dhanyawadi Naval Headquarters, as well as around Kap Thapyay and Pyar-Tay villages, according to frontline sources.

In Kyaukphru Township, fierce clashes have been ongoing since early June, with the Myanmar junta regularly reinforcing its troops and weaponry.

And, in the second week of August, frontline sources reported that the junta used warships to bring in around 500 additional troops along with 15 armored vehicles to strengthen their forces.

In Kyaukphru Township, where Chinese projects are located, the junta has launched combined battalions, navy, and air offensives on the abandoned outposts and positions.

The Arakan Army reportedly took control of areas along the road from Kyaukphru town to the Dhanyawadi Naval Headquarters, including Pyine Seik Kay, Min Tat Taung, the Industrial Training School, Pyar-Tay Village, and Leik Khamaw Village near the OGT facility.

However, the Myanmar junta has launched counteroffensives on Leik Khamaw and Pyar-Tay, resulting in fierce clashes between both sides.

“Our side has many targets we can engage with snipers, but on the ground, if the forces are uneven, we sometimes have to withdraw,” a frontline source said.

In the Kyaukphru clashes, where Chinese projects are located, it is reported that China is providing technical assistance to the junta military, including drones and drone operators, although Border News Agency has not been able to independently verify this.

Additionally, on the Kyaukphru frontline, junta forces have been reinforcing their troops from Sittwe and deploying newly recruited soldiers from military training camps, with most of these trainees reportedly participating in the fighting, according to frontline sources.

The Myanmar junta is reportedly attempting counteroffensives on coastal areas captured by the Arakan Army, employing as many large naval warships as possible, according to propaganda circulated by junta lobbyists.

The Arakan Army has assured that it will eventually recapture the entire Arakan region and return control to the Arakan people.
