The Arakan Army (AA) announced today, September 12, that a brutal airstrike carried out by the fascist Military Commission on Kyauktaw Township killed 18 students and injured more than 20 others.

At around 1 a.m. today, September 12, the junta’s Military Commission deliberately carried out an airstrike on the Pyinnya Pan Khin private high school in Thayet Ta Pin Village, Kyauktaw Township, dropping two 500-pound bombs on the school.

As a result of this targeted attack, 18 students were killed and more than 20 others were injured, while many houses in the area were also destroyed.

Among the injured are students, as well as civilians from nearby areas, with some in critical condition and facing life-threatening injuries.

Residents of Kyauktaw reported that on September 10, just two days earlier, the junta also carried out an airstrike on the mountain range near the Zee Chaung Dam in Kyauktaw Township.

At around 11 p.m. on September 10, a junta fighter jet carried out a bombing raid, dropping multiple bombs on the mountain range near the Zee Chaung Dam, which is located along the Kyauktaw-Paletwa highway.

Residents said that the junta has been conducting almost daily aerial surveillance and attacks on areas controlled by the Arakan Army, including Kyauktaw Township, leaving civilians in constant fear of airstrikes.

On August 25, the junta’s military commission carried out an airstrike on the Dine Kyi ward of Mrauk-U, an area controlled by the Arakan Army, killing 15 people, including children, and injuring 18 others.
