Among the prisoners of war captured during the battle for Minbra town, 225 family members of junta soldiers were released by the Arakan Army on May 16.
The released group included 130 children and 95 women.
Earlier, on April 13, the Arakan Army had also released another 170 family members of junta soldiers who were captured during the same battle.
This is the second time the Arakan Army has released family members of junta soldiers captured during the battle for Minbra, bringing the total number released to 395.
The Arakan Army fully captured Minbra town on February 6, 2024, following intense fighting.
As part of its decisive offensive, the Arakan Army now fully controls 14 towns across the Arakan region, including Minbra.
It is reported that during those town-capturing operations, the Arakan Army detained over 10,000 individuals, including junta troops and their family members.
