Kyaukphru, September 8
Residents of Kyaukphru said that on September 3, two displaced people from Kyan Chain Village, Kyaukphru Township, were abducted by Myanmar junta troops.
The two arrested individuals from Kyan Chain Village, Kyaukphru Township, were 16-year-old Maung Wei Tin Aung and 65-year-old U Han Thein Phru.
Residents said that around 8 a.m. on September 3, junta troops arrested them near Kyan Chain Village.
The two were displaced and living in Wataw Village. Residents of Kyaukphru said they were arrested by junta troops while going to their native village to collect food supplies.
“They went back to their village to collect food supplies. They did not know that junta soldiers had arrived nearby. They were arrested by soldiers hiding at the edge of the village, and we have not yet received any information about where they were taken,” a Kyaukphru resident said.
Around 3 p.m. on the evening of September 5, a civilian was shot and killed by junta troops near Thaphankha Dam in Kyaukphru Township.
Residents said that in Kyaukphru Township, which remains under their control, junta forces frequently arrest and kill civilians.
Locals in Kyaukphru report that civilians have been killed or injured due to artillery and naval attacks, and that villages, homes, as well as educational, healthcare, and religious facilities have also been damaged or destroyed.
In Kyaukphru Township, fierce clashes are ongoing between the Arakan Army and the Myanmar junta, with the junta reportedly using soldiers, weapons, and artillery in coordinated attacks, according to an Arakan Army statement.
