Chittagong, September 28.
Residents reported that this morning, September 28, the Bangladeshi military set fire to and destroyed the market in Gumma Township, Khakarsori area of the Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh.
In addition, residents reported that eight civilians, including women, were injured by gunfire from the Bangladeshi military, and the area is experiencing ongoing fires and heightened tension.
In the Chittagong Hill Tracts region, a 12-year-old Marama ethnic girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by three Bangladeshi nationals, prompting daily protests in response to the attack.
Residents of the indigenous community said that while protesters are demanding the arrest and prosecution of the attackers, the Bangladeshi military has been firing upon those demonstrating.
Indigenous residents reported that the Bangladeshi military has been firing upon and setting fire to homes in the Chittagong Hill Tracts without offering any protection.
