Seven civilians, including children, were injured when Myanmar’s military carried out airstrikes on Kyauktaw Township, which is controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), during the early hours of September 25.

At around 2 a.m. today, the military reportedly carried out targeted attacks using about 40 drone-dropped bombs on Pyi Taw Thar Ward No. 9 in Kyauktaw town, as well as Pike The and Nidain villages.

As a result of the attacks, 55-year-old U Sein Than and 54-year-old Daw Shwe Yi from Pyi Taw Thar Ward were injured.

Five Muslims from Pike The and Nidain villages were also injured, including a one-year-old Muslim child named Baby Saneya.

Among the injured, Daw Shwe Yi suffered a serious injury to the left side of her abdomen after being hit by bomb fragments. The one-year-old child suffered a forehead injury, while an eight-year-old child sustained an injury to the right leg.

Local residents and houses were also damaged in the attacks. On the evening of September 24, the military also carried out an airstrike on Zee Kyaing Village in Rathedaung Township.

Fighting between the Arakan Army and the military has also been intense since September 4 near the border of Kyauktaw and Ponnagyun townships.

The military has continued to carry out daily air and artillery attacks on towns controlled by the Arakan Army, reportedly targeting these areas. As a result, civilians have been killed and injured.
