September 22, 2025

At around 11:00 a.m. Myanmar Standard Time on September 20, Mudra, a female journalist from the Border News Agency based in Maungdaw, was taken from her residence in Maungdaw.

It is reported that the group responsible was the Intelligence Unit of the United League of Arakan / Arakan Army (ULA/AA).

Following her abduction, it has been learned that she is being held and interrogated at the ULA/AA Intelligence Office.

The core value of Border News Agency is rooted in peace and social harmony, promoting pluralism and diversity in the conflict-affected region of Arakan.

We firmly believe that Border News Agency serves as a bridge to amplify the voices of religious and ethnic minorities in the Arakan region and to help overcome divisions.

Regarding female journalist Mudra, if there are misunderstandings, we hope that the concerned authorities will approach the matter with broad-mindedness and understanding.

Therefore, we earnestly appeal to those who have taken her to return her safely, considering both the deep concerns of her family and humanitarian grounds, as well as with respect to international law.
