Two civilians were injured after the Myanmar military carried out an airstrike on Thandwe Township, which is currently controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).
At around 1:52 p.m. today, October 1, a military aircraft carried out an airstrike near Bodhi Kone Market in Ward No. 6, Thandwe.
During the airstrike, 45-year-old U Si Thu suffered injuries from shrapnel, while 38-year-old Daw San Pyae, also known as May Thandar Win, was injured in the back by bomb fragments.
Several civilian homes in and around the ward were also damaged in the attack.
On the same day, the Myanmar military also carried out airstrikes on areas controlled by the Arakan Army, including Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Werathani, Thandwe, and Kyaukphyu townships.
Border News Agency reports that the Myanmar military has continued carrying out attacks that affect civilians, amid its heavy battlefield losses in ground fighting. The agency alleges that civilians and other non-military targets are being deliberately targeted and that these attacks constitute ongoing war crimes.
