The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) branch of the Arakha Public Health Department inspected six pharmacies on August 12 to determine whether medicines were being manufactured, distributed, and sold under newly created brand names in the Arakha region.

During the inspections, authorities found that one pharmacy was manufacturing and distributing 16 types of medicines under new brand names. They also discovered that three other pharmacies were purchasing medicines through intermediaries and reselling them.

According to the inspection findings, the medicines were ordered and manufactured according to the specifications requested by the sellers through pharmaceutical companies based in a neighboring country.

Distribution of these medicines to townships across the Arakha region began in January 2025.

The Food and Drug Administration said it will continue conducting inspections and taking regulatory measures concerning medicines to ensure public safety.
