The United League of Arakan (ULA) is preparing to change the tax payment system in areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA). The new system will use online services and mobile banking to make tax payments easier and to reduce corruption.

The ULA says it wants to build a strong, effective, and fair tax system in the future. It plans to move from the current traditional system to modern technology in line with international standards.

The ULA also plans to use modern computer systems to store information about traders and local businesses in an organized way. This is intended to make the system more accurate and reliable.

At customs and goods inspection checkpoints, the ULA says it will develop faster and more organized methods to check goods. This is intended to reduce delays for traders.

The ULA also says it will provide training and job skills to tax officials so that they can become more skilled, responsible, and professional. It says this will help build a fair tax and administration system for the public.

The AA has taken control of 15 townships, including Paletwa, and is developing an administrative system under what it calls the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government.

In AA-controlled areas, taxes and fees are collected by the Customs and Tax Department of the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government.

However, some Arakan residents say that more taxes and fees are being collected on the ground than the official rates announced by the department.

Border News Agency has also received information alleging that some employees of the Customs and Tax Department have used collected tax money for their own benefit and have been involved in corruption.
