Tens of thousands of civilians who have fled the conflict in Kyaukphyu and sought refuge in Taungup Township, which is controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance as they face food shortages and the spread of influenza-like illness.

Amid rising commodity prices, rice has become difficult to obtain even for those who can afford it. The displaced people also have no employment opportunities and are relying largely on donors for assistance.

In addition, most displaced households are reportedly experiencing influenza-like illness. As they cannot afford medical treatment or medicines, many have been forced to remain bedridden without receiving proper care.

Facing severe food shortages and the risk of hunger, the displaced civilians have appealed for urgent assistance, particularly food and medicine.

The displaced people, who are temporarily sheltering in Taungup, continue to face numerous hardships as they struggle to meet their basic needs and survive each day.
