Ponnagyun, October 7
Farmers in Ponnagyun Township, which is controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), are urgently in need of assistance as cracks have appeared in farmland and rice plants are drying out and dying due to a lack of water.
The rice fields have not received enough rain, while farmers are also facing difficulties obtaining water pumps and fuel needed to irrigate their fields. As a result, many rice plants are drying up and being damaged.
Travel and transportation restrictions in the Arakha region have also caused the prices of fuel and agricultural supplies to rise sharply, making the situation even more difficult for farmers.
To prevent further reductions in rice production and possible food shortages, farmers are calling for assistance, including water pumps, fuel, fertilizer, and other agricultural supplies.
