Arakan Medical University Opens Applications for New Students

The Arakan Medical University, under the Arakan People’s Health Department of the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government, has started accepting applications for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Arakan people under the age of 25, both inside and outside Arakan, can apply. Applicants who have passed the old or new matriculation system, Grade 12 under the Arakan National Education Department, BECA, GED, or IGCSE can apply if they meet the requirements.

Applicants must submit a copy of their national ID, two photos, an education certificate or transcript, and a recommendation letter from their ward or village administrator confirming that they are a good Arakan citizen and follow local customs and traditions.

Applications must be submitted to the relevant Township Public Health Departments between September 14 and October 5.

The written entrance exam will be held on November 12. Applicants will be tested in English at CEFR B1 level and basic medical subjects.

Those who pass the written exam will be separately informed about mental health screening and interviews.

Those who are finally selected will attend a two-year medical degree program. After completing the program, they must sign an agreement to work as staff for the Arakan People’s Health Department.

The university was established to improve healthcare services in Arakan, increase the number of medical professionals, and train a new generation of young medical workers needed for the development of the region.
