Research data from ISP-Myanmar says that Mrauk-U District has the strongest and most organized systems for justice, security, and administration among the areas controlled by the Arakan Army (AA).
The Arakan Army currently controls the Paletwa area and 92.6 percent of the Arakan region. It has formed the Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government and has started operating administrative systems at the district level.
According to the research, the justice and security systems in Mrauk-U District are more established and stronger than those in other districts. The Arakan People’s Police Force and courts have the highest performance rating, scoring between Level 4 and Level 5, in their ability to review and handle cases.
In addition, tax collection and the work of administrative committees in Mrauk-U District are also operating effectively. These systems are helping to maintain local stability and the rule of law.
However, the education and healthcare sectors continue to face many challenges because of the extensive damage caused by the war. The ULA/AA still needs to make efforts to strengthen and provide services in these sectors, according to the research.
