The United League of Arakan (ULA) says it has appointed legal officers specifically to provide legal assistance and advice to people who submit complaints through the Justice for Arakan Telegram Channel.
The information was provided by Ma Mya Zan Wai, Deputy Director of the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the ULA.
According to the ULA, when complaints from the public are received, they are properly registered. Responsible officials then review the complaints according to their type, including land disputes, legal cases, and other matters, and coordinate with the relevant central offices to take further action.
When the relevant departments provide updates on the action they have taken regarding a complaint, the ULA said it provides complainants with legal assistance and guidance on the next steps they may need to take.
The ULA also said that policy-related proposals and other matters that do not fall under the responsibility of government departments are directly submitted to the organization’s central leadership, including its chairman.
In cases where further investigation is necessary, the ULA said that special investigation commissions are formed based on recommendations from the central committee. These commissions may conduct separate investigations directly on the ground.
