Werathani, September 22
A woman was killed and another civilian was injured in an airstrike carried out by Myanmar’s military junta on Taung Phyu Village in Werathani Township, which is under the control of the Arakkha Army (AA), on September 21.
The deceased was identified as 32-year-old Daw Win Myat Aye, who was visiting Taung Phyu Village from Kway Htoe Pyin Village in Ponnagyun Township.
The injured woman was identified as 43-year-old Daw Aye Khin Thein, a resident of Taung Phyu Village.
At around 12:25 a.m. on September 21, the junta military deliberately bombed Taung Phyu Village with 10 bombs dropped from aircraft.
Daw Win Myat Aye sustained severe head injuries in the attack and later died while receiving medical treatment.
In a separate incident, the junta military carried out an airstrike on Sat Thwar Village in Gwa Township, another area under AA control, at around 11:30 a.m. on September 21.
The attack injured two civilians: 14-year-old eighth-grade student Maung Zwel Htet Aung and 44-year-old U Nay Lin Aung.
Fierce fighting is ongoing between the Arakkha Army and the junta military in Ponnagyun Township.
As a result of the ongoing conflict, the junta military has reportedly continued its daily airstrikes and artillery attacks on civilian-populated areas in townships under AA control.
