A mother and her daughter were killed after the junta military deliberately shelled Zee Kine Village in Rathedaung Township. The artillery was reportedly fired from junta military bases in Sittwe.
The victims were identified as 72-year-old Daw Aye Nwe Phyu, the mother, and her 41-year-old daughter, Daw Ma Shwe Tin, both residents of Zee Kine Village.
The junta military fired artillery shells at the village from its bases in Sittwe during the morning of September 20.
The mother was killed after shrapnel struck her upper chest and collarbone area, while her daughter was killed after shrapnel hit her head.
The junta military has been advancing its troops into Ponnagyun Township, resulting in intense fighting with the Arakkha Army (AA).
As a result, the junta military has reportedly been carrying out frequent attacks on areas controlled by the Arakkha Army using airstrikes, artillery, and drones, causing civilian deaths and injuries.
