Werathani, October 1
Five people were injured when the military junta carried out an airstrike on Werathani Town, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), on the morning of October 1.
At around midnight, the military junta reportedly attacked Werathani Town using one Y-12 aircraft from its Magway Air Base, three fighter jets, and 14 drone-dropped bombs.
As a result of the attack, 54-year-old Daw Hla Kyaw Yin, 66-year-old Daw Ma Than Yin, 43-year-old Daw Ma Nwe Soe, 26-year-old Ma Khin Khin Htay, and 40-year-old Daw Ma Chay were injured.
Daw Hla Kyaw Yin sustained a serious injury to her right hip after being struck by bomb fragments. The injured people have been transported for medical treatment.
The military junta has been conducting an offensive in Ponnagyun Township, but the Arakan Army has been putting up strong resistance, preventing the junta forces from advancing, according to local sources.
In addition, the Arakan Army has launched counteroffensive operations, forcing junta forces to mount strong resistance near the border of Sittwe Township.
As a result, the military junta continued carrying out airstrikes with fighter jets on Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Mrauk-U, and Werathani townships, all under the control of the Arakan Army, until after 9 p.m. on September 30.
