The military junta carried out an airstrike near Kyaukseik Village in Ponnagyun Township, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA), at around 9 p.m. on September 30.
Two people were injured in the attack: four-year-old Maung Nay Kyaw Lin, who had fled Ponnagyun town because of the fighting, and 26-year-old Ma Khin Khin Than from Kyaukseik Village.
Maung Nay Kyaw Lin was injured by pieces of broken glass that struck his left leg. Ma Khin Khin Than also suffered serious injuries.
The military junta has been conducting an offensive in Ponnagyun Township. However, the Arakan Army has been putting up strong resistance, preventing the junta forces from advancing.
The Arakan Army has also launched counteroffensive operations, forcing junta forces to strongly defend their positions near the border of Sittwe Township.
As a result, the military junta continued carrying out airstrikes with fighter jets on Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Mrauk-U, and Werathani townships, which are under the control of the Arakan Army, until after 9 p.m. on September 30.
