On the afternoon of October 1, the Myanmar military carried out an airstrike on a monastery and civilian farmland in Tha Krarr Village, Kyauktaw Township, which is under the control of the Arakan Army (AA).
The airstrike hit and damaged a building at the monastery in Tha Krarr Village. However, the monks staying at the monastery were not injured and escaped safely.
The airstrike also damaged civilians’ farmland, including tomato plants.
On the same day, the Myanmar military carried out airstrikes on several areas under AA control, including Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, Rathedaung, Werathani, Thandwe, and Kyaukphyu townships.
On September 28, the Myanmar military also carried out an airstrike on the India Market in Kyauktaw town. The attack reportedly killed 50 civilians and injured more than 60 others.
The Myanmar military has suffered heavy losses in ground fighting. Border News Agency reports that it has therefore continued to deliberately target civilians who are not involved in the fighting, describing these attacks as ongoing war crimes.
