The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under the Arakha Public Health Department, conducted field inspections of cosmetic shops in Paletwa and Ponnagyun townships.

During inspections of 12 cosmetic shops in Paletwa Township, the inspection team found unsuitable cosmetic products at eight shops and expired products at nine shops.

In addition, in Ponnagyun Township, the team found unsuitable cosmetic products at nine shops and expired products at eight shops.

The inspection team confiscated the unsuitable and expired cosmetic products. Shop owners were required to sign undertakings and were educated not to sell prohibited products again.

Authorities warned consumers to exercise particular caution because some of the prohibited cosmetics contain chemicals that can harm health, potentially causing skin irritation and headaches and, with long-term use, kidney damage.
