Mrauk-U, July 31
On July 31, the military junta announced a state of emergency in all townships, including Paletwa Township, which has been seized by the Arakan Army (AA).
It was said by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, head of the National Defense and Security Council, that the state of emergency would last for 90 days.
It was said that this was to effectively put an end to armed terrorist disturbances, restore peace and stability in the regions, and ensure the enforcement of the rule of law.
The declaration covers 63 townships across three regions and seven states.
The Arakan Army now has only three townships left to capture: Sittwe, Kyaukphru, and Manaung.
