The Arakan People’s Public Health Department provided medical treatment on September 6 and 7 to people in two villages in Kyaukphyu District where respiratory diseases were spreading.

A total of 237 local residents received health checks and medical treatment. An emergency response team and members of the United League of Arakan (ULA) also helped with the medical activities.

Health education was also provided to local residents to help prevent the spread of influenza, pneumonia, and bronchitis, which are more common during cold and rainy seasons.

Health workers explained that respiratory diseases can spread through sneezing and coughing. They advised residents to wash their hands properly, wear masks, stay separated from others when sick, and keep indoor areas well ventilated.

Health officials also advised people who experience serious symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or chest pain, to seek medical treatment at the nearest hospital or clinic as soon as possible.
