Kyauktaw, September 28
At around noon on September 28, the military junta carried out an aerial attack using two 500-pound bombs near the India Market and the Gissapanadi Bridge in Kyauktaw town.
The airstrike reportedly killed nearly 30 civilians, including vendors and people traveling through the area. Bodies were reportedly scattered across the site.
Many others were injured, and the death toll could rise further.
Search-and-rescue operations are underway to assist the injured and recover the bodies of those killed. BNA will continue to report on the extent of the casualties and damage as more details emerge.
Since this morning, the military junta has been carrying out repeated airstrikes on Kyauktaw, Thandwe, and several other townships across the Arakha region.
As the military junta continues to conduct aerial attacks against towns and villages under the control of the Arakan Army, civilians are being urged to remain particularly alert to the danger of airstrikes.
