Six civilians were killed and 15 others injured after the military junta carried out daily airstrikes and artillery attacks on towns and villages across the Arakha region during the 10-day period from September 17 to 27, according to a statement issued by the Arakan Army (AA).

According to the AA, two people were killed in Phet Kya Village, Ponnagyun Township; one woman in Taungphu Village, Pauktaw Township; one person in Kula Chaung Village, Ponnagyun Township; and two people in Zi Kaing Village, Rathedaung Township, who were reportedly killed by artillery fire.

In addition, 15 civilians were injured: seven in Kyauktaw town, three in Kyintali town, one each in Gwa, Ann, Minbya, and Thandwe townships, and one in Pauktaw Township.

Among those killed was a woman from Taungphu Village, Pauktaw Township. Two of the seven civilians injured in Kyauktaw Township were children under the age of 10.

Regarding property damage, 25 houses were destroyed in Phet Kya Village; 24 houses in Kyintali and Yay Kyaw villages; six houses in Kula Chaung Village; and two shops and one house in Sat Thwa Village.

In addition, the historic Taungphu Pagoda Ordination Hall, a monastery, and school buildings in Pauktaw Township were damaged. Numerous buffaloes, cattle, pigs, and goats belonging to local residents were also killed.

The Arakan Army alleged that, amid the military junta’s military setbacks, the junta has been carrying out day-and-night airstrikes against schools, religious buildings, hospitals, and displacement camps that are not military targets.
