Ponnagyun, September 30
An artillery shell landed and exploded inside Tanbyae Hlan Village, Ponnagyun Township, on the morning of September 30, as military tensions between the Arakan Army (AA) and the Myanmar military remain high in the area.
Local sources said that there were no injuries because the residents of Tanbyae Hlan Village had already left the area to escape the fighting.
Although residents of Tanbyae Hlan and some nearby villages have fled because of the conflict, the Myanmar military reportedly continues to carry out frequent artillery attacks and airstrikes in the area.
The Myanmar military has launched an offensive in Ponnagyun Township, but the AA has been putting up strong resistance, reportedly preventing the military from advancing.
The AA has also launched counteroffensive operations, and the Myanmar military is reportedly facing strong resistance near the Sittwe Township border.
